How to accept Jesus as Savior?

How to accept Jesus as Savior?

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” - Romans 10:9. Therefore, to accept Jesus as Savior, you need to believe and confess. You can accept Jesus right now, anywhere.

“Without faith it is impossible to please God, because whoever approaches him needs to believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” - Hebrews 11:6

Believing means accepting as truth that God exists and that He sent Jesus to save you (John 3:16). The Bible says that we all sin and that sin always has punishment (death and being separated from God).

We cannot “make up for” our sins by doing good things. A person can always obey the law, but if he commits a single crime he will have to serve the punishment and will have a criminal record for the rest of his life.

God does not want to be separated from us. Therefore, Jesus came to take the punishment for all our sins. This way, we can have our “criminal record” erased and return to a personal relationship with God – forever (Romans 6:23). Just accept that Jesus paid the price for your sins and want to have friendship with God.

To confess

“If anyone publicly confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.” - 1 John 4:5

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” - 1 John 1:9

Confessing is declaring with your mouth that you reject sin and that now Jesus is Lord of your life. This is a very important act because it confirms that you really believe.

When you confess that Jesus is your Savior, you are telling God and the world that you no longer want to live in sin, far from God. Now Jesus is your friend and your goal in life is to please God. With Jesus' help, you will strive to give up sin and live rightly. Try saying it in your own words.

A life with Jesus

“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” - Acts of the Apostles 2:38

Accepting Jesus as your Savior is a lifelong commitment! But there's no need to be scared, you're not alone.

When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you receive God's Holy Spirit into your heart. He will guide and help you throughout your life, even when you don't feel it (John 14:16-17). God will never abandon you!

To prove to the world that you have accepted Jesus, you must be baptized . This way, everyone will know that you have a serious commitment to Jesus. Pray (talk to God) and read the Bible to learn more about Him. It is also important to look for a church (Hebrews 10:25). With the support of other believers, you will be able to grow and have more strength to overcome difficulties in your relationship with God.

Welcome to the family of God! -Galatians 3:26
